Diagnosis: Irreversible Pulpitis
What's this?
Irreversible pulpitis is inflammation of the living pulp tissue of the tooth, including the nerve resulting in moderate to severe pain. Usually has temperature stimulus. Pain can be a range from constant to random.
Treatment Recommended: Contact Your Dental Provider
Dental Diagnosis Treatment Recommended: Root Therapy (Root Canal) Assuming there is adequate
tooth structure to ensure a predictable long-term restoration following this treatment. Your dental
provider must verify with an exam and diagnostic films.
Root Sensitivity
Diagnosis: Normal cold sensitivity usually as a result of root exposure from recession or abfraction.
Dental Diagnosis Treatment Recommended: Sensitivity toothpaste or contact dental professional for bite appliance if abfraction is present
Gum Pain?
Here are some common causes:
- Open contact in between teeth that is creating a food trap. Food impaction can cause acute localized swelling and painful gums that will bleed easily.
- Trauma can create gum pain that can be caused by eating or flossing perhaps. It will usually resolve within a week as your body heals.
- Gum disease is a chronic process where the jaw bone slowly disappears. It can cause gum inflammation and pain but it is mostly asymptomatic in early stages.
- Gum abscess is a bacterial infection sometimes presented as a puss pocket and swelling resulting from an infection in the space between the teeth and the gums.

Acute Apical Periodontitis
Diagnosis: Acute Apical Periodontitis. Tooth is necrotic (not alive) and abscess may be forming.
Dental Diagnosis Treatment Recommended: Root Therapy (Root Canal) Assuming there is adequate tooth structure to ensure a predictable long-term restoration following this treatment. Your dental provider must verify with an exam and diagnostic films.

Cracked Tooth Syndrome
Diagnosis: Cracked tooth syndrome. Tooth is fractured but often does not appear broken. Pain is a result of the crack opening when biting pressure is applied to the tooth.
Dental Diagnosis Treatment Recommended: Covering tooth (crown) this will help keep the tooth together and prevent the crack from opening when chewing. Root therapy may sometimes be needed but not usually.
